SOUTH KOREA - MORNING WALK & GURO OLLE TRAIL

Assalamualaikum

🔵This vantage point provides us with incredible views of the city's skyline.

🔵A panoramic and uninterrupted view of the city.

🔵Lepas spent time di rooftop hotel, kami decided to go for morning walk di sekitar hotel. Tak jauh, about 20 minutes walk. Jadi ke sanalah kami.

🔵Yesung Laon Palace - apartment complex.

🔵Gaebong Prugio Apartment - a condominuim complex.

🔵Eunsung Presbyterian Church.

🔵At first glance I thought the driver of this vehicle was the city cleaning team and she was operating a street sweeper machine. Tapi rupanya bukan 😅.
🔵That is a "Hy Fresh" electric refrigerated cart, often referred to as a "Yakult cart" in South Korea.
🔹These carts are used by "Hy" (formerly Korea Yakult) for delivering fresh products, including dairy items like Yakult, to customers' doors.
🔹The carts are equipped with refrigeration to maintain the freshness of the products during delivery.
🔹They are known for their distinctive design and are a common sight in South Korean neighborhoods, used by "Hy's" delivery personnel.
🔹"Hy" has a strong distribution network, with thousands of couriers utilizing these carts for their regular delivery service.

🔵A hardware store selling hand tools, power tools, building materials and supplies and safety equipment and accessories.

🔵Kami pun tiba di Guro Olle Trail.

🔵🔹The "Guro Olle Trail" in Seoul refers to a section of the Seoul Trail, specifically Guro Olle-gil Course 2, typically refers to Course 2 of the Guro Olle-gil River in Guro-gu.
🔹It's a relatively easy 2.4 km point-to-point trail, averaging 25 minutes to complete.
🔹This course is popular for hiking, biking, and running, but it's also possible to find some solitude during quieter times.
🔹The best months to visit are August and September.
🔹The Seoul Trail itself is a larger network encircling Seoul, divided into 21 routes, designed to showcase the city's history, culture, and nature.

🔵Peta Guro Olle Trail.

🔵Ok, jom kita jalan-jalan dalam denai ini.

🔵Two steles or memorial tablets.

🔵Beautiful mosaic murals at Seoul Maebong Elementary School in South Korea.

🔵The mural appears to convey a whimsical and imaginative theme, likely aimed at inspiring children attending the nearby elementary school.

🔵Vibrant murals depicting characters and elements that resemble scenes from "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, such as the Little Prince himself, a character resembling the Pilot, and elements like stars.

🔵Seoul features numerous buildings with red brick facades, reflecting a blend of historical and modern architectural styles.
🔹These buildings often showcase the area's industrial past, particularly in places like Seongsu-dong, where red brick became a popular choice for factories and warehouses.
🔹The use of red brick also stems from its local availability, durability, and cost-effectiveness as a building material.

🔹Modernization and Preservation: While some older red brick structures have been renovated or repurposed, the area retains a strong sense of its industrial past, with new buildings often incorporating red brick to maintain a sense of continuity.
🔹Wealth and Status: In the past, red brick homes were sometimes associated with wealth, as they were considered a more desirable and durable alternative to other building materials.

🔹Diverse Applications: Red brick is used in various building types, from commercial spaces and apartments to cultural centers and even libraries.
🔹Modern Interpretations: Contemporary architects are reinterpreting the use of red brick, incorporating it into new designs that blend seamlessly with the neighborhood's historical aesthetic.

🔹Urban Regeneration: Seoul's urban regeneration projects have emphasized the preservation of historical elements, including red brick buildings, while also encouraging new developments that complement the existing landscape.

🔵Brightly colored machines dispense gumballs or small capsule toys.
🔵There was also a yellow A-frame sign (bottom left) with Korean text, prominently displaying "금이빨 삽니" (Geum-i-ppal sam-ni), which translates to "We buy gold teeth".
🔹This indicates that the store also offers a service of buying scrap gold, including dental gold, a practice sometimes found in smaller shops in Korea.

🔵Several arcade-style machines: Claw Machines, Cotton Candy Machine and Pinball Machine.

🔵The prominent items in the image are four gashapon machines, which are popular in Japan and Korea for dispensing capsule toys.

To be continued.

Till the next coming entry, inshaAllah. Meanwhile do take care.
