Ok sebelum tu, a few shots while on the way there :).
Patung Buddha tepi jalan ni begitu besar sekali.
Kedai2 tepi jalan begini memang banyak.
Sekali lagi saya katakan Sri Lanka ni bersih! Di mana2 je kami pergi bersih!
Sign boards welcoming visitors to Central Province.
Sebab saya suka artwork ni saya pun edit foto atas tu dengan memusing dan adjust foto atas tu jadi macam bawah ni. Punya la susah! Hehehehe...
Wikipedia: The traditional Kandyan (osaria) style consists of a full blouse which covers the midriff completely and is partially tucked in at the front as is seen in this 19th-century portrait. However, modern intermingling of styles has led to most wearers baring the midriff. The final tail of the sari is neatly pleated rather than free-flowing.
The Kandyan style is considered the national dress of Sinhalese women. It is the uniform of the air hostesses of SriLankan Airlines.
Tu dia, rajin betul aku cari info pasal sari Sri Lanka ni.. hahahaha....
More stupa and Buddha statue. Bottom right tu is the Fire Service Department, Kandy Municipal Council.
Hemas Hospital tu adalah salah satu private hospital di Sri Lanka - is a multi-specialty family hospital chain.
Dah tiba di bandar Kandy.
Top left: Bangunan hijau tu ialah General Hospital [Teaching] Kandy.
Top right: Tak tau bangunan apa tu. Nampak macam old colonial building.
Bottom left: Municipal Public Shopping Complex.
Bottom right: Kandy Municipal Common Facility Complex.
Top left: BOC - Bank of Ceylon.
Top right: Salah satu dari 16 kedai jewelry Swarna Mahal [House of Gold] yang terkenal di Sri Lanka yang command 65% of market share.
Bottom left: Champa Stores - importers & distributors of mobile phones, computers & computer pheriperals and quality sports goods.
Bottom right: Queen's Hotel, Kandy - One of Sri Lanka’s iconic historic hotels. With a history of over 160 years, 80 room British Colonial style luxury hotel. This former Governor's residence is one of the oldest hotels in Sri Lanka which is managed by the Ceylon Hotels Corporation.
Dan kami pun tiba di Bangunan Young Men's Buddhist Association tempat Kandyan Cultural Show diadakan di Y.M.B.A hall. Masa kami sampai dewan dah penuh. Semua seats depan already taken. Oh well, zoom2 je la.. hehehe.. Later I realize that better shoot dari belakang sebab seats dewan ni rata dan pelancung2 barat ni semua tinggi2 belaka. Jadi macam mana nak ambik gambar. Berdiri tentu la cannot. Last2 I also noticed semua yang nak ambik gambar macam saya bangun dan shoot dari belakang juga.
Penonton diberi nota ni describing the dances, which I really appreciate.. hehehe.
Kuat betul bunyi conch shell tu!
And I just love the rhythmic sound made by the drummers!
Very upbeat!
Oh ya, ni dah zoom max dah ni! Good thing tak blur sangat. Considering the movements, kira boleh pakai la.. hehehe...
Yep, memang gitu costume mereka... display midriff... :)
Very interesting and graceful movements actually walaupun terkangkang dan naik2 kaki.
And peacock dance ni yang paling saya suka! Tapi pergerakan punya la laju, habis most of my shots blur2.. hahaha... tapi ada a few yang boleh dikongsi di sini :).
Hahaha.. love the expression!
Dan ni part yang paling best. Dancers ni berputar in mid air! Hebat!
Dancing and singing.
Another dance by the ladies.
Graceful and beautiful.
Tak sure ni dance salupliya sebab tak nampak macam demons pun mereka ni.. hehehe... in fact mereka ni macam comic relief pulak.. hahaha...
Mula2 dance2 dulu...
Masih lagi dancing...
Memang lama betul dancingnya pun...
Haaa.. now baru putar2.. hehehe
Memang sangat skilled!!
Macam tarian melayu pakai tampi...
Asal tarian ni bermula bila King Panduwasdev dapat sakit ganjil lepas berkali2 mimpi harimau jelir2 lidah kat dia. Dipercayai kena ilmu hitam dari Kuweni, isteri pertama King Vijaya. Lepas tarian ni dipersembahkan, terus sakit ganjil raja tu hilang.
Lepas tu semua penonton keluar dewan dan tengok fire walking pulak.
It was my wife's idea for us to naik ke tingkat 1 bangunan ni. Awesome view!
Tu dia! Melompat ke dalam api!
Selesai tengok fire walking ni kami pun turun.
Ok lah, ni video of the some of the dances as a short video summary :).
Ok, selesai cultural show. I love it! Memang unik dan tak pernah saya lihat. Elok rasanya kalau kawan2 ke sana, masukkan dalam itinerary show ni :).
It seemed that warisan seni tarian mereka adalah sangat penting hingga diabadikan dalam duit kertas Sri Lanka.

Lepas makan, review2 sikit foto, terus terlelap.... hehehe...

banyak ganbar tarian!!
saya paling suka peacock dance tu..
berapa ya bayaran?
ke dah masuk siang-siang dalam pakej..?
[saya dah mula buat itinerari untuk trip enam bulan lagi.. over kan!!?? hahhahaaaa..]
Yes doc.
DeleteWelcome doc :).
Me too! Peacock dance tu la yang paling aggresif! Berputar2 in mid air! Hebat sangat!
Dah masuk dalam pakej. It is around 500 rupee or 4 USD, so between RM15 to RM20.
Ehhh..... tak over doc! Lagi awal lagi bagus! Can do lots of research! And have fun doing it! And doc can do it nice and slow and consider all the options. And Sri Lanka has so many wonderful options!!!
One thing saya advice, travelling there can take quite a long time cause tak de highway. Jalan mostly 2 lorong, got lori2 besar so boleh jadi slow, lalu bandar2 dan pekan so akan sibuk sikit. Jadi elok allocate sufficient time for travelling.
